Cutting keys
Just wading into this new panel truck project and realised I don't have door or ignition keys. Can a locksmith make keys for these. Scottssupertrucks will sell you a blank key, anybody know if a locksmith can fit one?

Re: Cutting keys
A good lock smith should be able to do it no problem. I had seen my Grandpa do it many times, he would go out with some sort of pick and run it in and out of the tumbler and feel what they were and go back inside and cut a key from the feel of the tumbler. So yes they should be able to do it but alot of lock smiths now days only know how to run a machine to make a duplicate key. It is a lost art.

Re: Cutting keys
You might price out how much a new key/lock set runs over having a locksmith cut a new key. I know I'm going with all new ones just for peace of mind. I want a new truck feel when I'm done.

Re: Cutting keys
Will the door key be the same as the ignition in these trucks?

Re: Cutting keys
Not sure what truck your speaking of. My '54 had the ignition, glove box and the driver's side door keyed the same from the factory. I currently have a late 60's-early70's style steering column in it, so I'll have at least 2 keys to carry.

Re: Cutting keys
It's a 50 panel. If it was all one key it would be worth cutting, about 25 bucks. Otherwise may as well just put new ones in, only about 20 bucks more than cutting.
