Back on the Boards with a Progess Report
Hello to All,
I hope I am in the correct forum. It has been awhile since I posted my New Member post (over two years) but have been a faithful reader and follower of the message boards. I never posted anything because I really didn't have any new updates, until now. The story is as follows: I am from upstate NY and purchased my Blazer in the fall of 1996. My father and I started a complete restoration on it right away. But then my wife and I bought and renovated a home, had two sons and career changes. So just as fast as our Blazer project started it stopped. I once thought of selling everything and then I found your site. You all have helped me retain interest in my K/5. So 10 years later (last week) I went down to my Father's shop (which is 2 1/2 hours away) and dug it out. We are starting it again this Fall and hope to complete by Spring '07. I took some photos while it was outside. The specs: 1972 K/5 Blazer, 4 inch lift, stock SM465/NP205, 307 replaced with a built 350 15X10 Corvette Rallies caps and rings with 35X12.50X15 General Grabber AP, stock color lt.olive green. All new chrome, new black/white houndstooth interior. I have not decided on what color it will be when it is done. We basically took what was good from the original NY Blazer(olive-not much but the windshield frame and cowl back to the rocker boxes) and grafted it to a North Carolina tub (orange) that had been burnt. The PO left it uncovered for many years so it was rotted at the cowl where mine was not. The rest of the tub and rocker boxes are SOLID. The heat from the fire also damaged the windshield post and dash beyond repair. So without being too long winded thanks again to all of you and your boards for helping me get going again. I will post updates and photos as they come. Leroy |

Re: Back on the Boards with a Progess Report
Looks like you have a very good start to a cool project! I dig the rally wheels!
As for color - my vote is blue with white top - that is the only good choice!

I like the wheels, and it looks good, get us some more shots of where you grafted the two together, I like to see fabrication!

Re: Back on the Boards with a Progess Report
I think that it's awesome that you kept the truck, and you're starting to get it going. I've had a couple of old car projects that I let go, and I still regret it. With the cost of trying to find one of our trucks always on the climb, you did right by keeping it. I can't wait to see it done! I hope to have a blazer myself someday.

Re: Back on the Boards with a Progess Report
I agree we all need motivation at times, I know I get a lot from this board. Your project looks like a good one. I use some of the members truck pictures for my background on the computer I use at work, just for motivation. Good luck.
