All's well in Valdez, I was just getting done with some piddly littte thing on my truck, slammed the door and it just would not stop shaking, looked around and could hear my house creaking. It lasted quite a long time. No tsumami warning tho thank God.

I heard they felt it as far away as Louisiana. We're expecting a big one around Vancouver Island. Picture this, plates are locked and slowly grinding away at each other. Pressure is building and when its released the plates will snap. They say Vancouver Island, being nothing more than a big slab of rock, will literally jump.

I heard it was the strongest quake on record in North America. They felt and measured in the Gulf of Mexico . . .

No problems in Anchorage, it lasted here for about one minute and felt several after shocks. The epicenter was about 270 miles to the north near a little town called Healy a major tourist trap in the summer. It moved at 2 miles per second (that's 7200 miles per hour) and lasted 80 seconds at epicenter. Good thing it was'nt like the 64 quake.

I was at work and everything started to swing and fall off the shelves. My boss was on the way to valdez and the road in front of them buckeled and cracked. She has some really cool pics. It was the best one I had been in during the nearly twenty years I have been here. I hope we get some bigger ones. Lots of work!!

YOU MENTIONED THAT MOST OF THE TOURISTS WERE GONE. BASED UPON THE SIZE OF THEM HOLES, I THINK I MAY KNOW WHERE SOME OF THEM MAY BE!!! Glad there were no major injuries or deaths.
