Re: Question about center dash air conditioning vent
Darn near everything - lol. It has 2 studs that have nuts from the the front of the cab. Depending on how thin and flexible your arm is you may be able to do without much difficulty. If I were putting an interior back together it would be just about the first thing I would do - before the cluster, radio, A/C controls and the glove box.
Have fun and good luck - Bob

Re: Question about center dash air conditioning vent
The best way to get at it is to remove the glove box, so much easier especially if you have a radio..

Re: Question about center dash air conditioning vent
Yah pita! glove box has to come out and cluster removed to helps. Ive done it with the cluster in once, replaced the ducts, and that was the only time I will ever do it with the cluster. Be sure to have a new glove box liner to. I guarantee you will need it. Oh and the glove box door has to come off to get the box out and back in. Hope this helps.

Re: Question about center dash air conditioning vent
Thanks for the input;
Aarons 72s- You were right about the glove box; but I've got a new one from GMC Pauls sittin right here. Bob Moore and Aarons 72's both refer to removing the cluster? Are they talking about the defrost/air conditioning hoses or something else?

Re: Question about center dash air conditioning vent
They are referring to the instrument cluster as the left side hose does a 90 degree turn very close to the instruments.
When I reassembled the center vent, I only used the right side hose, blocking off the left side at the distribution outlet and the left side of the center vent. It makes it easier to reassemble, although there is not as much airflow discharged from the vent. (The air flow is directed more toward the driver with the left side blocked). Jim |

Re: Question about center dash air conditioning vent
I also plugged the left side of this vent and I think it helped with air flow myself. You only have three hoses feeding the 4 outlets counting the two hoses for the center. I personally think it's better.
Take the glove box out with door and take a 7/16" rachet and take the 2 nuts off the vent inside the dash. There is no need to take the dash cluster out that I know of.
