Question AC Units

Has anyone put AC on their 47-54? I have looked at Vintage and Coyote Air. How do they fit, work etc? What do you guys think.

Re: AC Units

I used a Vintage Air Gen ll, works great here in the desert once you get the cab cooled down from 135-140*. The 5 windows are like cooling a green house, takes about 5 miles, the fan blows a good amount of air on high, and after it cools down I run it on med. If you are keeping your cowl vent pre fit the Evap and ducts to the defroster vent on the passenger side. I did not do that and after all was mounted and plumed I placed the ducts and had to move the Evap. down 1 1/2" so I could use the cowl vent and defroster (not at the same time!!!). Which ever one you use be sure and pore a quart of water in the evap. and make sure your condensate plumbing is tilted to the drain and you get a quart out of the drain ! Leaks are hard to correct after it is in place and your carpet is wet!!!

Re: AC Units

Did you guys use the under dash vents or did you fab up something for in dash? I don't know if there is even enough room for hoses etc. Anyway thanks for the responses and I am a ways from installing but just wanted to do the research.

Thanks Bernie

Re: AC Units

I just hung the three vents under the dash, and two defrost vents.
I think I will install three round vents in the 53 that I am building. I saw a Ford the other day at the Chassie shop that had them in the dash and I liked the way they looked!!
