Who is going to make the glass for you? From everything I have heard/read/been told, the glass is the spendy portion of this swap...especially if you are only having two windows made. Your cost to do this yourself could far exceed the kit cost.

Re: one piece windows

I still have some checking to do but lexan can be formed cheaply and the weight savings is substantial. More investegation needed...ain't skeered...lol

Re: one piece windows

The weight savings would be minimal actually, each pane of side glass can't weigh more than 5-6 pounds...so the savings would be around 10 pounds (have to add back in what the lexan will weigh).

WTF? Go for it. You'll NEVER do this from scratch for less than $700. End of story.

I was in on those posts too. I also knew what Chris knew that it would be financially impossible for the average Joe to make this happen.

I had done some research in to costs and feasibility for doing just one. Chris had taken the initiative to research even deeper for the possibility to make a kit. The factor here that changed everything was having an established company willing to front the R&D cost and initial expense of doing the first order.

Props to Brothers for spending the big bucks and bringing us 73-87 owners something we could only wish for a year ago....

Brothers doesn't make the kits, they just sell them. One Piece Products (OPP) is the mfr..

Re: one piece windows

I'd rather pay the $700 and know it's going to work.

Yes that's true. From what I understood though it was Brothers that gave the initial order and got the project to the light of day.

Re: one piece windows

well thanks for all the advice, I'll look at this closer. I still am not sure the path I will take with this truck. I still have a drag race jones and I've built a few in my day. Making stuff doesn't scare me and it'll work if I do. The street rod guys around here go ventless alot and they have a source for glass, although most of the street rods have flat side glass so more research is needed. Then again dzus fastened lexan, a cage, with fat tires and a load of spray is appealing. So is suede,5/7, ralleys and drive the wheels off it is cool too. Then again...................
