Happy Holidays to All !!!

Merry Christmas 2006

‘Twas the night before Christmas and in the garage,
There wasn’t a trace of a Ford or a Dodge,
The presents were wrapped and the lights were all lit,
So I figured I'd mess with “Ole Red” for a bit.
I popped the release and I lifted the hood,
When a deep voice behind me said "looks pretty good."
Well, as you can imagine, I turned mighty quick,
And there, by the workbench, stood good ol Saint Nick!
We stood there a bit, not too sure what to say,
Then he said "don't suppose that you'd trade for my sleigh?
I said "no way, Santa" and started to grin,
"But if you've got the time we could go for a spin!"
His round little mouth, all tied up like a bow,
Turned into a smile and he said "hey! Let's go!!"
So as not to disturb all the neighbors' retreat,
We pushed “Ole Red” quietly into the street,
Then, taking our places to drift down the hill,
I turned on the key and I let the clutch spill.
The sound that erupted took him by surprise,
But he liked it a lot, by the look in his eyes.
With Swamper tires crying and dash tach aglow,
We headed on out where the gear heads all go.
And Santa´s grin widened, approaching his ears,
With every shift up as I went through the gears.
Then he yelled "can't recall when I've felt so alive!"
So I backed off the gas and said "you wanna drive?"
Ol’ Santa was stunned when I gave him the keys,
When he walked past the headlights he shook at the knees!
Then “Ole Red” exploded with dual exhaust sound!
Santa let out the clutch and the tires shook the ground!
Power shift into second, again into third!
I sat there just watching, at loss for a word,
Then I heard him exclaim as he grabbed fourth gear,

"Merry Christmas to all, and a Happy New Year!!!"

Re: Happy Holidays to All !!!

Lawman02, That's a fine looking sleigh you got there! Hello from across the river. One of my dealers had been borrowing my '71 to show it off for the past ten weeks and include in a magazine feature on their shop. I brought it home Friday night. It is nestled cozily in its garage.

Re: Happy Holidays to All !!!

Hi, I've been watching your build on this site and can't wait to see it on the trails. My truck has a 6" spring lift with an addition 2" block on the rear. I'm running 35x15.50x16.5 on 9.75x16.5 rims. When I was younger I always owned Chevy SWB 4x4 but know have a love for the 3/4 tons. Especially the stepsides. But for me, the stepsides need the lift and wide tires to really complete the look.

The longbed 4x4 is getting the worn 350 overhauled right now and I am afraid the shortbed 4x4 will be too nice to take offroad when its done so dont look forward to any trail pics anytime soon Maybe never for the shortbed
