Re: Hot Damn!!! Shes Legal!!!!!
I dont understand the registration...you have to pay for every year the truck wasnt on the road? So if you purchased a ride of some sort thats been sitting in a barn since 1957, you have to pay 50 years of back license registration, and penalties on top of that?

Re: Hot Damn!!! Shes Legal!!!!!
Here in Cali you can get a NON OPP permit before your reg expires and then it can sit for ever and you will not accrue fees. Or if it has been longer than I think 7yrs it is dropped from the system and no fees should be due. Every vehical I own that is not running or going to be on the road for awhile has been non-opped because it is free to do but expensive if you don't!
So you can afford $550 for back fees but you can't afford to post pics that are free LOL Kevin LFD Inc. |

Re: Hot Damn!!! Shes Legal!!!!!
Can't wait to see the pics!! I know all about the back fees here in cali. I bought my '67 burb from a guy that told me it had been non-opt and it turned out that it hasn't been registered in 5 years, so the back fees are almost $500. I don't have the money, so now I have to sell the burb.

Re: Hot Damn!!! Shes Legal!!!!!
Congrats!
I got nailed because I didn't transfer my title within 30 days or whatever (I was busy driving it). Cost me $55 extra, but Oregon reg is only like $35 for 2 years. |

Re: Hot Damn!!! Shes Legal!!!!!
cali might be bad, but at least I don't have to come up with the money to pay for the registration on all my vehicles at the same time, like my friend in Iowa. She has to pay for all her vehicles registrations on her b-day every year. That can get expensive if you start acquiring trucks like we do.

Re: Hot Damn!!! Shes Legal!!!!!
Atleast here in Oklahoma you only have to pay for 2 yrs back tags, however you may have to show that the vehicle was non drivable. Like a receipt for new engine or trans, something major.

Re: Hot Damn!!! Shes Legal!!!!!
Wow, cost you almost more for the registration then it did your you to fix her up... In Kansas and in most states if you want for around $50 bucks or so you can get what is called a collectors license, then when you title them the are titled and when you restore them or put them on the road all you have to pay is the current years tags and fees.

Re: Hot Damn!!! Shes Legal!!!!!
Your in California? You didn't have to pay for back registration you sign an affidavid for nonop and they take all that back registration off. Unless the truck was caught driving on the street it then you can't do it. CA could have changed the rules there I moved to AZ in 94 so im not sure if they have but same thing here in AZ i have cars i let sit for 2-3 years and I just non op them. I grew up in CA and did that for many times there. Now they usually don't tell you about this when you show up to register it and if you don't say anything they just charge you.

Re: Hot Damn!!! Shes Legal!!!!!
My last purchase, a '64 3/4 ton cost me 35 bucks to register. That included title transfer, new plates and registration. I put collector plates on it, so they are good for the life of the vehicle. It hadn't been registered or licensed in a couple years. I do appreciate living in North Dakota some times.
