Wheel swap question
Will the wheels off a '71 Chevy 4WD with front disc and rear drum work on a '70 2WD with front and rear drum brakes? If not, can I swap the disc brakes from the '71 4WD onto the '70 to make it work?
What, in general, are the requirements for wheels to work on a 4 wheel drum brake setup? Is it simply finding a wheel with the necessary backspacing? Sorry to cram 3 questions into one post. |

Re: Wheel swap question
Yep, 6 lug 4x4 rally wheels are commonly swapped over to the earlier 2wd 6 lug trucks. Bolt em on and you're rollin!

Re: Wheel swap question
true that!
However, the disks from the 4X4 will not work on the 2 wheel drive. The shape on the back side of the rim dictates if the wheel will work on a disk brake hub. However, a disk brake wheel will easily clear a drum. |
