Just to be on the safe side befor you put the carb back on check the fuel pressure and make sure you are not over 7 lbs.

I was shown some pictures of the finished product. At least it survived the junk yard.

Re: wasnt able to get her started today

brake cleaner does a nice job of getting the grease of the carb i've heared about Qjets is that there are 1 or two screws on the top that you need to watch out for when tightening cause overtightining bends the top of the carb .

there some stories on the subject in old hot rod magazines..... allways a good idea to keep those old magazines stacked up for future reference

Re: wasnt able to get her started today

Here's a neat link with pics, showing disassembly and rebuild of '67-'80 Q-Jet for Corvette. Don't know exactly what if any difference in 'vette and truck carbs are, but it may be of some use.

Feel free to substitute the word "C-10" for "Corvette" as you review the document

Re: wasnt able to get her started today

so far so good, the carb kit comes with a numbered exploded view, so following that i was able to get it all apart for cleaning.

by the numbers, this carb is a 1971, 49 state chevy carb.

added a few pics at to the bottom of my page showing a bit of my teardown.

Re: wasnt able to get her started today

I'm sure it will start and run much better after the rebuild. I'm not sure but it looks like the choke may be missing something. Does it work at all? If it's missing parts it may be wiser to buy an electric choke conversion than to try to find any missing parts and get them adjusted right. Jeg's or Summit should have the conversion kits and maybe even a local parts store.
