Re: Rear End ???
Haha yeah man your speedo is off now. Mine is SOOO far off it's not funny. It shows 65, I'm doing barely 50. I put my GPS into the truck and it shows speed so I have a pretty good idea how fast I'm really going and it's nowhere near what my speedo shows.
I hit Bill Heard, got the drive gear (15 tooth) and driven gear (40 tooth) that every calculator I found says I need for $14.02 tax and all total, here's hoping I dont' need the new housing for like $60 too! If so I might hit the jyards for one. Gonna try doing this Saturday, god I hope my drive tooth is already 15 tooth and I wasted $6.49 for it, but most calculators say I was probably running 18 tooth since my speedo was pretty accurate before. |

Re: Rear End ???
Yeah snappy is a good word. It pulls stronger than the 3.08's, which weren't that bad. I'll definetly have to get around to changing out the speedo gears. On the way home from the shop I was creeping around like a elderly lady. Here in North Little Rock the cops love to hand out speeding tickets. How do I calculate what gears I will need? It's a 350 tranny. I suppose I need to go ahead and purchase the the 275/60/15 tires before I purchase the speedo gears.

There's one calculator. According to it (and another I found) 700r4 + 3.73 + 275/60-15 = 15 tooth drive gear 40 tooth driven gear. Looks like I had 18/38. Here's pics of my adventure in changing speedo gears: http://faith.dixiesys.com/85-Silverado/PICT0005_001 Starts there with a pic of the old gears. |
