Re: UPS Boxes = Happiness!
Do you have any pics of your rear setup from the panel? was it still on the factory 2 link and panhard? where did you buy the c notch, was it made for the crooked frame? what size rim and tire did it lay on?

Re: UPS Boxes = Happiness!
i dont have any pics yet, but i will in about a week. it was a 10" notch i made from scratch, that extended forward past where the trailing arms would have hit the frame. The bags were mounted 8" ahead of stock springs for about 17" of lift. I fabbed up a watts link for the rear, stays dead center the whole range of motion. fabbed auto tranny crossmember. ECE extreme drop trailing arm crossmember. 4" z up front with 3" spindles. Should have layed on 22's out back and 20's up front. WHen it gets here, we will see. Im redoing the rear notch, and stepping and narrowing the front control arms 1".

Re: UPS Boxes = Happiness!
You're gonna love those Slams. They ride great. You gonna stick w/ the factory trailing arms or will you be going with a 4-link? I've been thinking about linking my 67, but I really have no complaints with the trailing arm setup so I'll probably end up leaving them as they are.

Re: UPS Boxes = Happiness!
i had slam rs72(the re7's are replacements) on my panel, and i loved them. Im keeping the trailing arms and watts link on it. cant wait to be on air again.

Re: UPS Boxes = Happiness!
i'm also keeping the trailing arms. this weekend i'm pulling a good set out of a parts truck, and the x member. i'll also be flipping the carrier bearing mount and cutting holes for the exhaust before putting it in my truck.

Re: UPS Boxes = Happiness!
according to my calculations, shouldnt you be laying atleast 22"s up front with a 4" Z? I lay 20"s easily with a 1.5" crossmember drop?

Re: UPS Boxes = Happiness!
Iveldesigns - flipping your carrier bearing mount? are you a longbed?
jaredm82 - yeah, something like that. i never actually got to finish it, it all got burnt. I have 4" z, 3" spindles. Im also going to step my control arms 1" so i can drive lower, and narrow them 1" per side so i have fender clearance. My goal when i first did all th frame mods, was to lay on 22's all the way around, but started thinking they might look too big, but i want to. what do you think, 65 suburban chopped 6" layin rocker with 22's? |

Re: UPS Boxes = Happiness!
If you go to www.ifcustom.com and look at marissa's 64 burban it has a 2.5 in. Z 2.5" spindles and 1' stepped control arms and lays on a 285-35-22. Thats a pretty big tire. You should be able to lay 24's with a 4" Z and 3in. spindles thats 7 in . already!

Re: UPS Boxes = Happiness!
yeah, ive looked at that sub time after time. when i had the panel. i never had the panel on big wheels, so im not sure what size it would lay on. yeah, it should lay on 22's like i want it to. i also just want to cruise low, hence the stepping control arms. front of the panel got about 8" of lift from ground to 175 psi.

Re: UPS Boxes = Happiness!
Stepped control arms are just gonna give you more of a drop and if you plan on running big wheels its gonna take 175 psi to lift high enough just to make a turn.

Re: UPS Boxes = Happiness!
Have you start cutting out that wood floor on your new sub? Wish I lived closer i'd love to help you tear into that new burban. Have you thought about starting fresh with new subs stock frame? Instead of Zing it buying the Porterbuilt droppedmember?

Re: UPS Boxes = Happiness!
i have thought about just starting with the new frame, and i still might. i love porterbuilts work, but most definately dont have the money. im 21 yrs old working as a tech at a dealership, supporting myself and partially my gf. im going to rip the whole floor outta the rear of the sub. its going to be all metal, and has be to raised quite a bit to clear the suspension. ive been contemplating doing a 4link rear because of seat room, and with a 4link i dont have to have the notch extend forward. as for the front, z-ing is for me!
