where can i find the vin number on the frame itself ?
FINALY the first step in the process of building a truck for myself has started at 11 pm i arived home with a GMC chassis belonging to a 1979 pickup along with some papers.....why? here in holland we dont have to pay roadtax no more after a vehicle is older than 25 years (saves about 1800 euro per year ) the truck is heavy and running on propane both give a pretty high tax to pay the new chassis and pinkslip is to make the truck 7 years older than it actually is
eeeeh ahum on with the question i couldn't find the vinnumber on the frame , it suposed to be in front of the front suspension on the left side , the only number i can find is sideways between the holes that the suspension mounts too and reads KSC and under that 8-2378 and the numbers 14000223 on the one framerails and 14000224 on the other (prolly partnumbers ), tomorrow i will strip the front of the frame to bare metal to see if the numbers are stamped too shallow to see through the paint if its not there im going to be worried . the only hope i have is that there never was a number stamped in there at all and i only need the vinplate under the window to get the truck aproved has annyone a photo of the location of or anny info on the vinnumber on the frame so i dont have to dig so far ?

Re: where can i find the vin number on the frame itself ?
I started cleaning the frame of my 68 the other day and found my VIN stamped on top of the frame on the left side close to the steering column.
I hope that helps.

Bitte, bitte. Most of the people I know here have to get it stamped in before they go to the inspection because they canīt find it.
