pinion angle shims for lowered truck
I was wondering if anyone out there knows the correct angle/ dimensions of the shim that would give me the correct pinion angle for a truck lowered 4 to 5 inches in the rear. Mine is lowered 4.75". I can make a shim from aluminum stock.
I broke another carrier bearing this week. They generally last anywhere from 3000 to 6000 miles. I welded the top edge where the cage is spot welded to the threaded plate, and it lasted a lot longer than the last one. I know my driveshaft is too short now (only pushes into tranny another 1/2", if that), but I want to make it last until this fall when I get a 700R4 and new driveshaft made. Any knowledge/ comments/ b.s. appreciated. ------------------ '69 Chevy Custom/10 SB '74 GMC Suburban 4x4 '66 Mustang Sprint '77 Sportster

I think I would be looking for one of the heavier carrier bearings that mount on the bottom of the crossmember. like on the 4 spd's. it may take a little bit of designing to make it work but it has to be better than breaking the stupid thing all the time!!!
