A couple clutch questions...

I put my clutch pedal back together today and I decided (well actually it was too much of a pain in the ass) to not put that big, gigantic, unwilling spring back on the pedal under the dash. It feels ten times better. It doesn't seem like there will be any affect from doing it but what do you guys think?

Also I was trying to remember if I put a pilot bushing on the crank when I put the motor in and I can't seem to remember. Does anyone know if the 260 hp GM crate motors already have them placed in there or will any damage occur from not having it. I would think that it wouldn't do anything to not have it since some people cut off the front of the transmissions main shaft when doing oddball engine swaps but i'd like some feedback anyways.

You will soon find out if you left it out. Just think what the clutch disk is doing when there is no support in the front shaft. You can check it by having someone push the clutch in while you are under the truck. While the clutch is pushed in , see if the disc will move up and down any. If it does hut-o. (engine off)

I would think you would have clutch chatter without it. I always put a new one in when replacing the clutch. I would also put in a new throw out bearing and pressure plate. I had a 70 Nova SS and had to replace the clutch about every 6 months. I used to love doing burn outs!

I don't notice anything at all. That's why I think it's in there but on the other hand I don't remember putting one in so it's got me kind of worried. I only have 300 miles on it. If the pressure plate is wore out i'm out of luck cuz it's one of those centerforce dual friction setups and they cost like 200 bucks just for the plate. I am just hoping that someone on here knows if GM puts them in their crate motors. I'll probably just call Scoggin Dickey on monday to see.
