Hey Guys question bout the idle

hey guys so one day my turkc jus up n stopped idleing.. someone told me it could be the EGR valve... but then i was lookin under the hood and on what i think is my fuel pump... there is gas leaking out of there.. then i told someone that the gas was leaking from there and thye said that might be why it isnt idleing cuz the carb isnt getting enough gas? has anyone had this problem or know what it is caused from? i am going to by a new fuel pump but while im at the autopart store i will pick up an egr valve as well at the same time if that is what the idle problem is..

Re: Hey Guys question bout the idle

i would buy a new fuel pump and hose like you said and start from there, if its leaking on the inside of the fuel pump too then most likely you have gas in your oil, so i would check that too and go from there.

Re: Hey Guys question bout the idle

if the oil doesnt smell like gas and its not thin nor is it over filled then i wouldnt worry about the oil but id bet a dollar the fuel pump is your problem make sure you set the new pump right in the motor so that the cam lobe works with it

Re: Hey Guys question bout the idle

i'd bet its your fuel pump...cause if it is leaking that means that there is also a drop in fuel pressure going to the carb. and that means it is that much harder to get gas up to it....mechanical fuel pumps are cheap....like 10 or 15 bucks around here....i'd give that a shot and see what happens.....that and while your at it buy a new fuel filter and put it in too...

Yeah fuel pumps are like 15 $ for the mechanical ones. I would buy a new one and a filter (2 $) while your at it and change both out and go from there.
