Re: update on the plugs...
From the Haynes manual.
Carbon Deposits = Dry sooty deposits indicate a rich mixture or weak ignition causing backfires, hard starting, and hesitation. Recomendation = Make sure the plug has the correct heat range. Check for clogged air filter, problem in the fuel system, or engine management system. Also check for ignition system problems.
