I looked for a billet grill for quite a while. I think you will NOT be pleased with one of the $49 specials. I got mine from LMC and the quality and intallation support was very good. Note that 'bolt on' billet grills are probably not bolt ons. I'd also be careful with anything used as you won't see the true quality on ebay and you may be missing an important installation piece......for what it's worth

Re: Ebay billet grille quality????

OK..I'm here to tell you that I was a skeptic at first.. especially when I tried to install the $40 eBay billet grille..BUT after all of my complaining and ranting in a thread. (not gonna even bring it up) The $40 eBay grille does fit just fine and does look great. It did take some minor adjusting and modifying (what doesn't anymore) but it was WELL worth the $40!!! I have better pics but not with me here at work.

**One note of caution though not related to the quality of the grille itself.. Just that having a standard style hood latch with a full on billet grille makes it hard to open.. Trust me .. I'm workin on it though and should have a permanent resolve without having to replace the whole latching/release mechanism.

I got the solenoids. . Now how to make it all work without going back and redoing the WHOLE frontend again???

I'm thinkin some 5/16 cold rolled and a few little brackets and I'll be good to go.

Actually It's for the little trickle charger I have been using on the Optima while the truck has been out of commission. Those were quick pics I snapped one day between rain showers. Quick shove/roll out-SNAP SNAP-Quick shove/roll in. Instant rushed-crappy pics. Them trucks a freakin heavy!

Re: Ebay billet grille quality????

Do you remeber the name of the ebay company???

Anyone use a Stull billet grille?? Seen one on Summit's site. Gotta run to their retail store soon anyway [that way I can see it before I pay $$].
Still up in the air on what direction to take.

I have Carriage Works' aluminum billet grille (see sig), and this one looks identical. Very nice quality although it was challenging to get the hood release mechanism adjusted just right.

Re: Ebay billet grille quality????

Ya know. When I received the grille from eBay it came in a plain white box in clear plastic bubblewrap. No distinguishing marks or labels so I have no clue about a brand/manufacturer. I am pretty sure that most of the grilles on eBay look to be the same and I bet they are. For $40 you can't go wrong. (Excuse the dirty truck. I had to take some pics last night as it was the first time it "Drove"out of the shop under it's own power in 5 years!)

Now if it were me and I was gonna spend the big$$$ on like a Stull grille or something equivelant, I sure would want to see one in person before I ponied up the kind of money they want for em.
