my neighbor has a 93 chevy conversion van. I was wondering if the front crossmember would bolt to my 68 chevy frame. also, can I use the 700r4 out of it or not. It is computer shifted I believe, but i don't know. I was thinking of at least using the front crossmember and all accessories including the rearend if it will fit to at least get myself some power brakes

don't know about the crossmember, but yes you can use the tranny.

TCI makes a kit that converts it to vacuum controlled lockup, plus it allows you to add a switch to turn off lockup allowing you to tow in 4th gear like the new trucks (my favorite feature).

The kit costs about $75 and is very easy to install.

actually, I think by 93, the 700R4 was dead, and the totally computer controlled 4l60E was in place. If that's the case, installing that would cost WAY more than it is worth.
IIRC, the van front end is too narrow for a truck.

The 700r4 was called a 700r4 from 82-92. In 93 they called it a 4L60, but the E didn't come until 94. So it may be called just a 4L60, but I don't think it'll be a 4L60E. I think they changed to electronic in 1994, because I have a 94 S-10 with a 4L60E. That's kind of confusing, but I think its the truth. Justin
