Re: my progress

thanks for the encouragement guys.

no the truck wasn't a 50th, its a 70c10

mid to late seventies jeep grand wagoneer hinges. i'm toying with s10 latches but i'm not sure they are going to work for how i want to use them,,,they might be a little to big. so i'm leaving them alone for a minute and continplating them.

i'll post more this evening when I get home from work.

Re: my progress

I am mounting the striker bolts in the opening for the factory upper hinge,
(the rectangle opening for the prop rod because its already reinforced and its pretty close to center of the door) which puts the s10 latches in the same spot on the A piller. the s10 latches are kinda bulky (for a lack of a better discription). I was planning on going to the j/y this week end and looking at latches to see if I can find a pair that would work better for my application or just go with the bear claws. Either way i'll fab a cover to fit the area between the door and the fender to hide everything so nothing will be seen except the opening for the striker bolt and the striker bolt itself but will remain accessible if I need to get into it.

I'm trying to keep all the parts factory pieces or at least off of a production vehicle,,,,that way I can find replacement parts fairly easy just about anywhere. I've been in the position before that I needed a part and couldn't get the exact one because the aftermarket company that produced it went out of business which caused a hassle to fix a simple problem.

I'm open to suggestions at this point. I may just figure out how to use the s10 latches though.
