Re: Shaved Tailgate Pics

Nice work Hart_Rod. I dig the truck tail light mod on 'Burbs.

I moved my handle to the inside, filled the old hole with a piece I cut from my old tailgate.

I've been following this one. Looks awesome. This is what GM should have done. How far do you think you are from paint? Looks like most of the major body work is done.

I like this look too. I wonder how it would look with the Chevrolet lettering still in place...

EDIT: BigSky- Your truck is looking badass, I don't know how I missed it before. Good work!

Any more?

Thanks for the props. I'll have more pictures up when I paint the exterior in the next few weeks.

What did you do to relocate the handle? From what I understand, the store bought relocators occupy the space where you patched.

Thanks -Chris

Thanks -Chris
I bought the basic kit from Brothers, IIRC its a Mar-K Tech product. The new handle that you mount on the inside does come very close to the patch I made for the exterior of the tailgate. I did bend the handle mount just slightly so that my exterior patch would sit in there correctly. Not having done much body work except this truck it was tricky for me to get the body lines of the tailgate just right where I patched it, but hey no one is counting hours right.. ha ha.

Plus you have to perfect the art of hanging the pull rods into the new handle while working though the hole under the new handle on the inside. I practiced that process several times before I welded my exterior patch on, and once you have done a few times like anything you learn the tricks.
