Re: updated pics, need your opinions too
I have the same issue. Mine is actually a hair lower in the front than in the back. The wheelwells, though, make it look look the back is lower than the front. I'm trying to decide whether to go 1" lower in the front or 1" higher in the back.
I know it would look better lower in the front, but it is a daily driver. I think higher in the back would make it ride better. It would also make it haul stuff better, and that is an issue since it is a daily driver. Slonaker EDIT-I forgot to say that you should lower yours another inch or two. You don't daily drive it, so do what looks best. Last edited by Slonaker; 04-16-2007 at 01:54 PM. |

Re: updated pics, need your opinions too
It won't settle 2", but you can cut a coil out of it after it does settle.
Definitely drop the front. BTW, it looks sweet!

Re: updated pics, need your opinions too
Let me ask you axle flip kit/c- notch guys a question,
Doesn't it make you feel or think unsafe cutting the frame? That part always scares me, I'd be afraid it snap going down the road or in a wreck or hauling something. I wonder if it's the weak point since the frame gets cut. Also another question, can one flip kit.c notch and then add shackles and front hangers to make it even lower???? Thanks in advance guys, I mean don't get me wrong I'd love to flip kit and c-notch but it just scares me to compromise a frame like that, however other then hangers/shackles there's not much room left for a drop in the rear. Except for like de arches or less leafs. You guys with dropped trucks ever haul anything? Load of trash, rocks? dirt? atv anything like that in the bed? if so does it bottom out and put it in danger? or still ride ok loaded? I'm seriously considering dropping the 84, but we gotta haul stuff in it and use it as a truck, haul my atv, garbage, scrap, dirt, rocks, you name it.

Re: updated pics, need your opinions too
Chris, while I am no expert on c-notching frames, I doubt there would be a problem if done correctly. Here is a pic of Swervins notch, as you can see, it looks lenty sturdy. I have the same kit in Yeller, and these things are real nice, real heavy (thick GA metal), and the welds are absolutely perfect. Also, you have to remember, once the bed is bolted down tight, that adds another area of added strength.
