took off bed now rear break lights n blinkers dont work.....

its jus like it sounds. i took off the bed and now when i try to hook up the rear lights so i can drive.. the blinkers and the break lights do not work.. the blinkers wont even come on period in the front or the back.. does anyone know what this can be caused from? or what i can do to fix it?

Make sure you have them grounded.

yeah, thats what I said in the other thread...

The ground was originally on the bed, now it needs to be grounded to the frame.

i grounded it to the frame. i can get the parking lights to work but not the break lights or blinkers.. the blinkers worked for a fewmins i just left them on to see when the rear ones would come on.. now neither the front or rear blinkers work... could i of popped a fuse? i looked at all the fuses under the dash they were all fine so im stumped and cant figure it out.

clean all the connections, its was i had do to make my stuff work. Any were that there is a break where it would unplug clean it very well. that should help.


Also i have taken apart the light clips and clean out the old dieletric gress and put new in that should help to.

I would definately check the flasher relay then.. They are cheap. Or even check the bulb. When a bulb goes out the lights can do funny things. The inside blinker will usually stay on, and the blinker on the same side as the bad bulb wont flash either. Could have slightly damaged the filiment while taking the bulb out, especially if it was still on when you fished it out of the bed.

the bulbs r all fine they r brand new.. and i cleaned all the connections i just checked the hazard relay and its good works fine and the blinker doesnt come on inside the truck... NONE OF THE BLINKERS ALL AROUND THE TRUCK R WORKING.... they all worked before i took off the bed but now they rnt.. ive been out there fartin around with everything i could think of and still nothing.. the relay for the flashers work.. i took it out and put it back in the flashers work.. but the blinkers dont..

time to get a tester and check the wiring check the connections where the plugs are sometimes they get dirty or loose

well i owe all of you an appology.. im sorrry i just for some reason was not thinking.. and i thought the hole time i had the key turned over but it was off and i never tho0ught to check the key.. so i turned the key on and guess what.. EVERYTHING WORKED GREAT.. SO I APPOLGIZE for not using my own head and jsut comming straight here and wasting your guys time.. but thank you very much for all of the help..

yea i was kicking myself n the ass trying to figure out what i did wrong then i turned thekey and it was as simple as that LMAO. i started laughin pretty hard when i figured it out

Sounds like the time I thought the fuel pump went out on my 87 GMC, I go a new one, tried to drop the tank, tried to lift the bed.. neither was working very well... the whole time being in the middle of my work parking lot in the summer with no shade... After awhile my wife and I had to lay under the truck to cool down.. for some reason I climbed in the truck which is when I realized that I must have accidently hit the tank switch and the other tank didnt work.. so for 4-5 hours trying to fix the fuel pump all I had to do was flip a switch.
