What's your opinion on this nice truck?
Saw his posted in CT a couple days ago.....

$10,000+ is a bit high, there isn't really anything special about it. IMHO it isn't worh more than $6-7,000.

its pretty and its a nice resto job, but i think its over priced too

well, i hate to be the black sheep, but the truck is probably worth something CLOSE to that.
i'm doing a restoration of a '75 stepside. if i quit right now, i would have close to $10k in it and its not even painted!!! i did pay too much for my truck, and i have put some money into a ton of polished assories on my engine (basically everything that hangs off of it)... but i'd still say the truck is worth $9000 just my $.02 from a guy who is in the middle of a project!!! |

unless you have a rare car/truck or low production car/truck if you get half of what you have into it consider yourself lucky. You see, this is a hobby, and if you think you will break even you will more than likely be dissapointed. Not trying to rain on anyones parade but it is the truth.

Nice truck the truck may be a little over priced . But i bet if you restored a truck to that condition you would have more then that in it. I know i have. i have spent 5k in the last 6months on mine . A new motor rebuilt 71 355 4 bolt, flat top pistons, wolverine cam, double roller chain, 1.94 heads with new giudes and harden seats, performer intake, new 1406 edelbrock new 3 core radiator thats over 2 grand( $1733 machine shop bill). new oak bed $ 200 for wood and materials this was cheap for me ( my father is a carpenter and machined the boards for me) finished in marine varnish it came out nice . A 4/6 drop with a notcched frame andrear flip kit, new spindles, shocks, coils perfessionly done for 1600 $ When you make mods there always extras like i had to replace the new tires in the front( replace tires with less then 1k miles) . i had 275 /15/ 60s too a 235/15/60s beacause they rubbed. I had to cut the rear exhaust for clearance for the drop then refab back out the rear ( i made the exhaust myself).Restoring a truck is a labor of love you will never make out financially. LOl i could have sold my truck before i made these mods for about the same price . I guess what iam tryin to say is its always cheaper to buy a restored truck then restoring it your self. Maybe iam just venting because saturday i was going to install the above motor had it all asembled and detailed ready to drop in. I poured oil in the motor to check for leaks. right before i was going to hook it up to the picker. Well it leaked like a sieve right around the bottom of the timing chain cover. Luckly it wasnt in and its going back to the machine shop . jay 78 stepside black 02 silverado lt black 02 x-treme blazer black

Nice truck, but over priced. I agree your not gonna get what you put in it.

On your 4/6 drop, who did the professional drop and how much was for the parts and how much was for the labor? Will be looking for the same to do mine, but I have all the parts. |

no doubt its a nice truck, but worth realistically about $7k tops...
I have over $40k in mine....no one in their right mind would buy it for anything over $20k...but that is cool since its not for sale@@ hehehe

lowering cost
To have my truck lowered 4/6 professionally with a rear flip and notched frame. 1 bellteck lowering kit $795 dollars 2 lower ball joints they needed replacing, 92 dollars , shocks 4 # 239 dollars pads 45 dollars labor 440 dollars aligment 40 dollars 1651.96 plus tax 1779.16 a total . Plus 2 new(smaller) front tires and 20' of new 2.5 exhaust pipe ( had to cut exhaust for clearance and refab) witch ads up to 2k. Luckly i was workin 7-12s at the time. That was the cost professionally lowered 4/6 drop with rear flip and notched frame . And i did the welding myself. Being a welder by trade. If i guy has the time i bet this job could be done alot che per at home. PLus I had to get a wheel spacer for the front 5 dollars. Another problem if you have wheel balancing wieghts on your enter front wheels they will rub on tight turns( use the flat weights with double face tape). GRinding of the lower a frame is required. The ride is rougher in the back better in the front. Traction is alot better. jay ( it was worth every cent lol) I had brians brakes and aligment in vancouver washington do the work ( a real nice guy very upfront and honest I dont expect nobody to work for free but i expect quality work without hidden costs.)
