A-arm shaft alignment.
Okay, which way do the dimples face? Are they used to mark the location of the U-bolts? I marked the location then sanded down the shaft for painting.
Is there a trick to realign the lower arm? |

Re: A-arm shaft alignment.
It's been awhile since iv'e had mine off but as i recall there are two dowl pins in the x member and the shaft engages into them and i thought they would only install one way.
But if not then i would say it wont make a differance. |

Re: A-arm shaft alignment.
Yea you're right. I went blank when the shop called and asked which way should the dimples face. I'm going to measure a rough angle and tell them turn them. The upper arms face a certain way too. I'll have to look closely. I'll post pics of the new bushings tomorrow.

Re: A-arm shaft alignment.
Actually if ya leave the nuts loose on the ends of the shaft you can trun them to the point you need them at to bolt them back on and then hook them up to the spindel and set it on the groung and then tighten the two shaft nuts cuz if you have too much preload on them the rubber will just rip apart in no time.

Re: A-arm shaft alignment.
g-
Here's a couple of pics showing the alignment of the dimples with respect to the LCA (just before the install) and the position of the UCA. I agree with 87STEPPER, I left the shaft untightened until I installed it and had it pre-loaded.

Re: A-arm shaft alignment.
Thanks for the pictures. I'll bolt up everthing next week. I need order the rubber stop mounts for the lower a-arms. I destroyed the old ones while trying to remove them.

Goog progress, G.
Reminds me of my rebuild minus the paint... especially this pic of mine:
