looking for a front drum to disc conversion kit that would work with my 66gmc. I seen a few online, but want to know if anyone has already done one, looking for the power brake option also. thanks in advance.

Re: Brake conversion kit
I just took mine off a '72 GMC truck, and swapped it over.....
Bought some new lines, and a prop valve, and good to go.....

Re: Brake conversion kit
64GMCHorsepower When you say swap, is that from the spindle on out or I think I read in one of the threads it was also the control arms?
Jonboy you saying that I can swap with any 71 -87 GM truck? Thanks 64GMC, Jonboy, and 1restorick. |

I actually swapped the whole front crossmember.....
But you can do just the control arms.

Re: Brake conversion kit
For my '66, I took the whole shibang from a '78 C-10, The truck had been rear ended, so we just cut the frame off at the cab and took everything forward of that, minus the power steering box, he had already sold that. It all bolted right in. One thing I liked is that the U-bolts that hold the lower control arms on the later crossmember are alot beefier.

Re: Brake conversion kit
Are you planning on keeping it 6 lug? If so, you'll need to buy the six lug rotors from one of the catalogs and you'll be able to use some spindles for 71-87. If you plan on converting to five lug, you can use the spindles and rotors. You just have to swap out ball joints, I believe. I helped my brother in law a couple months ago install one of these set ups. Worked real nice on his 67.
