edelbrock 1406/rod for gaz pedal?

Probleme is it binds so sometimes it wont go to the floor and the 4 bbl wont open. The teck guy told me its most likely because i have a rod instead of a cable for my gaz pedal. Is this true? does annyone have this probleme? If so how do you fix it?

Re: edelbrock 1406/rod for gaz pedal?

your tech sounds like a tool to me.
i've run many edelbrocks on 3 trucks now, and have never had an issue. (all my trucks were 69 or 70, so they were rod driven)

Re: edelbrock 1406/rod for gaz pedal?

Had a problem like that on my 67 (with a rod), too. Mine ended up being the accelerator pump (I had just re-built the carb). I had to take the pump lever screw out, remove the lever and S-link, then rotate the pump shaft *180 to get it to work freely. Had this happen with 2 different carbs - a 1407 and a 1406.

what is or where is the accelerater pump? Is it like a plunger of some sort on the carb?

Re: edelbrock 1406/rod for gaz pedal?

If you look on the pictures above the accelarator pump linkage is on the front of the throttle linkage (the pump itself is on the front, top, driver's side corner of the carb).

The circled part is the acc. pump linkage, the arrow points to the top of the pump.

They're vacuum secondaries, your shouldnt be able to see them open just by matting to go fast pedal.
