should I buy another truck?
Well a local body shop burnt up last week and it had a swb 71 custom/10 in the paint booth with a new paint job, but didnt matter after the fire. It's all there just all the rubber or plastic has melted but the metal seems Ok. It's V8 ,auto, ralley, duals, non air,
double chrome. Should I buy it ? How much ? I'm thinking 500 or less,I think the tires are still up on the truck, but it is bare metal now.

How hard is burnt metal to clean up and paint? Might be worth the work for a small purchase price!

I think like this.
If you have the room and cash, buy it. Who cares if you have the need. You will find one later.

Look at it this way. Its already stripped and ready for paint. Just needs a little clean up.
What else was in the shop?

Now please don't take offense to this but what kind of stupid question is that Of course you should buy another truck........ barring divorce or bankruptcy of course If you don't have room to park it just bring it up here to Canada. We have lots of space up here and SWB's are like hens teeth. And honestly you could store with any of us here and we'd take real good care of it for ya

Big Orange, I wouldn't. Burned vehicles are bad news. Metal strength problems, rust out quick, wiring nightmares, etc. Just my two cents.

sounds like a good deal, it'll have to all be repainted and built again from the ground up, but it sounds good.

Fire-Fire Everywhere
About a year ago a lady was driving her husband's 70 Chev PU through Olympia, when fire started coming through the firewall. She stopped, jumped out and everyone stood around and watched it burning...the fire truck came...and everyone watched it burning...the firemen got out and got their gear ready...and everyone watched it burning...and then it started ROLLING down a slight grade, crossed the street and into a gas station...and everyone watched as it hit a gas pump and knocked it clear off the island. The attendant saw the truck coming and shut the master switch off before the PU hit. $50,000 damage to the station from the fire and I bought the truck...it still had a good BED!

burnt truck
Thanks for all the replys,This truck got hot but not hot enough to warp any metal, hech the seat is still intack. I just hope the owner contacts me and I have the chance to buy the truck. It has good sheetmetal and a GREAT bed. I got other trucks that I could combind to build another swb fleetside sweety. I'm gonna go and take some pic. with the digcam today and post them on another thread. I feel bad for the owner, besides even if he doesnt sell it to me maybe he will buy the stuff I have to rebuild the truck, either way I cant lose unless he just pulls it up in his back yard for a keepsake.
