Fly wheel replacement?
Can i Just replace the fly wheel by dropping the trannie? mid 70s 350/350 combo

yep.
In reality, you don't even have to drop it, you can slide it back on the cross member, and place a bottle jack on the back side to support the weight so it don't tip over. This is a LOT better than bench pressing a tranny, and anyone who's done it would agree with me on that. If you have a tranny jack, then it isn't such a big deal. But, on your actual Q... drop the tranny, then remove the fly wheel. Don't forget to support the engine. If you let the exahust hold it up, it'll crack the manifolds, ir bend pipes. You may come out with no dammage, but there's no reason to risk it. |
