Re: Any C20 SWB out there?

wowser too. just picked it up from my friends shop, i changed the rear end out , i put a 14 bolt in, but i didnt know how to change the ring gear and pinion in the front, so i let him do it,plus he put in the front spring bushings, he had a hard time cause p.o of the frame welded the spring eye bushing bolts to the frame i guess cause the bushing was wore out, and he added a extra leaf to the front and put hei accell dist plus accell plug wires and put new brake shoes on the front and turn my rear drums, he was the one who cut my driveshaft down for me and it has a shake to the truck after he drove it we now belive its the new tires outa balance, so im gonna take it back and have hem look at em, i belive if they will, im gonna just trade em in on some 35; inch and just buy me a 4 inch lift cause its still not exactly sitting level

Re: Any C20 SWB out there?

Is the frame shorting process any different than a 2wd frame? I am just rounding up parts to do this as well. I will be using a 68 k20 4wd as a donor. What am I getting into?

Re: Any C20 SWB out there?

there is a great write up on how to cut the frame posted here somewhere, my brother has done 3 so far, the last one where not sure what happened but it was bowed down a bit where he welded it back, but a quick trip to my cusions frame machine in about 10 mins we had it back straight, its not really that much of a job but if you dont have a way of lifting the cab back onto the frame, youll have to round up maybe 4 friends, luckly we have a steel beam in the cieling of the shop with a chain hoist so we hooked thru the windows and lifted , rolled the 2 wd frame out then rolled the cut 4x4 under it, ohh and it will ride alot stiffer than normal also, make sure ya buy new body mounts too, thats just a few things youll need , its pretty fun doing this thou, good luck and your in great hands here with the wealth of infromation each member has

Great! Thanks for the help. I will be doing a frame up restore. I am sure there will be a lot of questions. Is the ride to stiff? should I be looking for a half ton? Can the springs be changed to a softer ride? I could ask many more
