HEI Installation and I got to thinking ????
Could you put a relay in for the 12volt power wire to the HEI? I can't come up with a good reason why you would want to, but it crossed my mind this weekend.
Goes something like this: Battery to relay Relay to HEI Unfused or fused "on with ignition" terminal to relay Key on, power to relay causes power to HEI. Like I said, I can't think of a good reason to do this. Sometimes I just like to invent things to do for the sake of doing them.

you could totally do it, but your coil doesn't require a heavy gauge wire, it doesn't lose much of any power from going from batt->bulkhead->coil, so...i think it would convolute your wiring more than help it.

Re: HEI Installation and I got to thinking ????
I was kind of thinking the same thing. If the coil doesn't require much in the way of amps it really is just more wiring. Like I said, I was just thinking if there was a reason it wouldn't work.

if you were reving to 7000 RPM, this would be the way to do it.
For street drivers, there is no need. HOWEVER, if you have a butt load of things going to the Ign Unfused, then a relay turned on by that terminal, wired to a small Aux fuse box would be a great idea. |
