That is one of the coolest tow trucks I have ever seen. I want to know (and see!) more.

Re: 1958 Viking 40

Short History

Local truck, two brother into wheels, one a dealer for Jeep, the other his shop. Had the bill of sale and window sticker etc. Pretty basic.

My buddy bought it in 90-03 and added a modified wheel lift.

Divorce ruined the world.

I "inherited" the truck to pay to put his Nomad back together. I considered it an orphan, for function, but it was solid in all the right places. Paint was thin and surface rust was happening. Stripped the hood and acid etched it to rid of surface rust. Changed tires to radials.

Kept in the garage, but was in the way.

One of his old buddies, and son, decided to see if it was still around. I sold it to them, as my garage full of projects wouldn't permit me to add one more.

18 months later, this is what you see. Manley 6 Ton winch was the original, still functional.

Youth and enthusiasm, a father to direct and assist, and the final product is great.

He's looking for spears for the fenders and a better hood piece.

More pictures next time I darken his driveway.
