79 Fenders On An 86
I found a guy locally selling some nice 79 fenders and I need a new set for my 86. Will these bolt up in replacement of the old ones? What differences are there? Thanks in advance, James

You cant use them unless you replace your hood and basically your entire font clip.

No way they'll fit, unfortunately... They'll bolt to the cab, but you won't be able to put your hood on, or bolt them to the front clip.
The 73-80 fenders are the units with the vertical marker lights, the 81+ units have the horizontal markers

Re: 79 Fenders On An 86
If you found two good fenders your half way home. Finding a clean D side fender isn't hard. Finding a clean 73-80 P fender is another story. The battery seepage eats up the front and the a/c drain destroys the rear.
Clean hoods are tough too...

not to steal the thread, but could you go the other way and do like a total 86 front clip on a 76,,would the body lines match up,,or are they to different..

The body lines are a perfect match, but there are a few minor modifications required around the cowl area. 81-87 have a shorter hood and a different cowl configuration than 73-80.
