Roll Call!!!!!
Guys and Gals,
This forum is so quiet. I'm wondering if ANYBODY reads it. SO it's time for a roll call. Please tell us who you are, what you have and what you need. We might find several of us that are close together. Let's get this group going as well as the 67-72 guys! Brian LaRose Atlanta, Georgia 1958 Chevy Apache Stepside, V8, Auto, rough front fenders, bed is ok. Needs lots of sandpaper and paint, but otherwise complete. I need a set of front fenders for a 58 or 58. I have an extra set of 6 lug stock rims that I will part with. I'm going to the GoodGuys nationals, any of you guys gonna be in charlotte? next? Brian

This is positively sad. There is nobody on this board. I guess everybody is too busy trying to make a living in this world..
There will be time for trucks, maybe not now, but sometime. Brian

Okay i'll chime in. I'm still painting my wife's 59 short fleet. It has been a huge pain. It seems to be fighting me at every turn. Maybe its possessed! Anyways heres a description of the work so far. Camaro sub, tilt, pwr streering, AC, Filled dash, Dakota Digital guages, 350 with a little thump to it, 700R4, Lowered. It's being painted a Ford (yes i know) Tangerine looking color. I am doing the wiring and interior this winter. P.S. i have some spare parts listed on the parts board. Good Luck all!!! I welcome all emails to ask questions or just swap pics or just plain talk trucks. Steve in MO

Steve,
It sounds like a really cool project. Lowered and with a new IFS, that should handle GREAT compared to the stock front end. Regarding your parts for sale, I'm ok with those parts. I am really in need of some steel front fenders for this thing. OR should I consider going fiberglass....??? I'm wondering if you have any pictures of your wife's truck up on the board for us to look at. I'd LOVE to see some progress (it might get me excited about my project). Brian

I check in every once in awhile.
I have a 55' second series shortbed stepside 3100. I am running a 350 bored .030 over with a single pattern cam 216 degree duration at .05 lift, flat top pistons, weiand excelerator single plane manifold with a 600 cfm edelbrock carb. Using stock truck 3 speed tranny and stock 3.90 rearend. What I am looking for is a 5 speed overdrive tranny, rebuilt rearend with a posi, looking into an Independent Front Suspension with disc brakes Not sure whether to go with a kit or a front clip off a car. And here is what I can afford: NOTHING Between school and work, It doesn't give me much time to work on it, but it is my daily driver.

BUSY BUSY BUSY!
Hey I still look in on this site. Been pretty busy on my '57 lately. As you may recall, I am doing a complete frame off and am in the middle of doing the IFS.
Darn weather just took a nosedive so it is cold in the garage again! So in order to get anything done I'll have to spend money for getting the garage insulated and heated. And ... I have really been busy in my 55-59 parts business! Have been buying and selling lots of good used parts. If you need anything let me know ... I will be happy to try and help you with your 55-59 truck projects. Will try and post some photos next time I check in here. Keep posting! Your fellow "Truck Nut" rico_bob

I look in every once in a while. My 56 GMC big window is on hold until I get my 70 Jimmy project on the road. The 56 is a great project. The only rust is on the drivers side door hinge and that doesn't matter because I'm going suicide doors. I'll put IFS from FatMan and a 4 link out back. I want to section the cab 3.5" and smooth the grill pieces. It'll probably have a Big Block. I can't seem to shake the Big Block fever! I'm not in need of anything 55-59 specific, just the typical drivetrain stuff. Maybe any perfect (or near perfect) grill and hood emblem pieces. Later.

Roll Call/Sigle Leaf Springs
You're right. This is not a very active board.
I have a 1957 step side. It has a 66-67 ChevyII 283 V8 w/ TH400. Everything else is stock. I acquired the truck just a little over one year ago. I've driven it almost every day. I figured I'd start "updating" things as they broke, but nothing's broken, yet! Plans are to beef up the drive train with a big block Chevy and add a Gear Venders overdrive to the TH400 and replace the rear end with something...not a Ford 9". I've debated doing the usual mods: IFS, power steering/brakes, airconditioning etc., but I think I want to keep it as truck-like as possible, and simple. I love that big old steering wheel that takes two hands to turn, and the stock brakes that take muscle to apply. You have to DRIVE this thing, not just be a passenger. I do want to lower it. Have any of you used the single leaf spring kits to lower your rides? Anyway, glad to have found this board. Looking forward to chatting with y'all.
