Questions about install A/C in a '65
I'm considering purchasing the surefit system from Vintage air but I was at the Super Chevy Show in Atlanta and saw a '65 or '66 chevy truck with a vintage air system. Some how the guy had his air vents mounted under the flat spot on the dash. Has anyone seen this done or know how to go about achieveing a clean custom look. I've considered also into cutting holes in the dash for the air vents.

I was at the Atlanta Super Chevy show and I think I saw the same truck. I talked to the owner and he said the guy that did the body work did the lower panel for the heck of it to make it look cleaner. Here's a pic

Check out VA part # 492000-VUA in the on-line catalog page 31 - www.vintageair.com and see if it is something you can use (it is paintable to match your dash) or you can fabricate your own panel under the dash. I mounted mine in the dash but I removed the ash tray to fit the center vent.

I'm thinking about putting the vintage air system in my truck. After I shave my ashtray I'll put the center vent there and the outer vents on the dash.
