Slow windshield wipers?

My wind shield wipers are really slowing down and seem to be stuggling just to get their job done. Any ideas? Is it tough to change the motor?

Thanks.

I found thats its really easy to get to the wiper motor with the cluster out. Make sure all the moving joints are lubed. I use the spray white grease. For what they are I think mine work great. You will have to remove the cowl.

Hum! You guys have me wondering. I have never turned mine on in over a year. Maybe I should do that now and then.

Well, they're electric motors with moving mechanical parts. They need to be maintained just like anything else, and they're outside in the elements too!

I was just driving home in the rain with my sloooow wipers and noticed my volt meter was reading very low. I reached under the dash and jiggled some wires and the volt meter shot back to normal and the wipers sped up significantly.
Clean clean and tighten the wiring and see what happens.
I'm also going to lube under the cowl plate tonight and try to get rid of the squeaking.

Mine slowed down when I had a short in my electrical system (dimmer switch) that caused a drop in available voltage. Once I fixed the short and got the juices flowing again, the wipers sped back up.

I tried a pair of corvette wipers one time. They had the little wings on them. The air pushed them against the windshield so hard they wouldn't hardly move. Had to take them off.
