It will be easier to keep everything lined up with a straight cut.

The problem with the straight cut is you don't get the proper weld penetration when you join them back together. Flat will work, angled is a little harder but a much stronger weld. Doesn't require the ece frame brace either

Re: angel of cut for z"

if you cut on an angle, wont it mess up the center of the hub? sense it will move up and back or forward, depending on the way you angled it?

Straight cut is the CORRECT way to go. If the frame is gusseted/plated correctly, it will look like one continuous frame rail.

Re: angel of cut for z"

be patient with me as im not too educated on this stuff. i have read oround this forum about the wheel not being centered in the well on some of these trucks. would an angle cut be a way of adjusting this off centered problem when building a frame?

Yes it would. You can raise the control arm pivot points & move the spindles centerline forward @ the same time. The catch is you have to remove the same amount of material from the front frame horns to keep everything the same overall length.

While I'm no expert, the correct way is to do a well planned, structurally sound job w/quality welds. Other than that, there's no reason that it can't have the "look of one continuous frame rail" w/an angled cut that has been plated similar to a straight cut.

Building a small, high rpm engine with the perfect bore, stroke and rod ratio is very impressive.
It's like a highly skilled Morrocan sword fighter with a Damascus Steel Scimitar.....

Cubic inches is like Indiana Jones with a cheap pistol.

Re: angel of cut for z"

I've seen it done like the third example in 1LoC10's drawings to center the wheels in the fenders. Seems like a good idea to me.
