Re: will this fit my truck?

I don't know if that will fit but, I have another option for ya. Chevy 1 ton trucks have a trans crossmember that do NOT hang below the frame. It has brackets the bolt inside the frame top and bottom. The frame is alot taller, but you can use either the top or bottom brackets. I think it is a total of 5 pieces. I have a 1982 swb that is lower than yours and thats what I going to do. Mine was FREE!!!!!!

The early 70's trucks had them too...my '73 has the same crossmember you are referring to (but mine is 3 pieces total)...and it is a 1/2 ton, 2WD. They are commonly referred to as "double hump" crossmembers.

correct, but i do not have the time to go out to junk yards and search for parts. that is originally what i wanted, and still do. but if i could find a tubular one(probably for cheaper too) i would be all for it. cant argue with the weight reduction.

Re: will this fit my truck?

Eric, hate to burst your bubble, but the weight differences between the two are very minimal. Besides, don't you have subs and amps in your ride...there is some additional weight over stock that you could shave.
