problem solved... hopefully...
since my rims where too small and i couldnt find any interchangeable rear drums i took 2 new drums down to the machine shop today to have the fins ground off. Guy said it would take 2 hrs cuz the lay only cuts .006'' off a turn. so for 2 drums $27 a piece at 60/hr thats a $174 pair of rear brake drums. dang! but is still less than the $416 i have invested in the 2 rims.

I hope your are happy with the results. I don't know about prices in Florida but that sounds high to me. And I know for a fact he can [and will] take off a lot more than .006 a pass. But as long as you are happy that is all that matters. I hope to see a pic of those wheels on your truck soon.

OK, I am guilty,I worked in a shop that had a machine shop in it for 10 years and still know all the guys. I guess I am too spoiled to getting stuff machined for free.

Couldn't you just take a grinder to them and then have them balanced. I don't know but sounds good

I had talked with a couple shops in my area,& they figured a couple hours to do the same job,so that doesnt sound too far out on the price.........69longhorn.
