2wd burbs in texas
hello,
I haven't been on this site in a while, I had a 70 SWB fleet that I had redone all of the suspension, brakes, convered to a 350 and 700r4 basically a ""frame off" at home project. I did everything but paint and body, the PO had already done a "driver" paint job on it. Anyway, I sold this truck about 4 months ago, and I am getting the itch again. I have a family of 4 which didn't work well in the truck..... I have really been looking on the net at 2wd 67-72 burbs. Are these burbs easier or harder to find than the 67-72 trucks? Is there anything that I should look for on a burb compared to a truck? I always liked the way the 67-72 trucks looked, and I have just been brainstorming about the burbs.... What are the average price for a used unrestored burb? Anyone have any leads on one in Texas? I am in Huffman, a few miles north of Houston. I tried to look in the classified section, but I don't think there were any in Texas. I am not a big fan of the way the classifieds are set up. I like the board was set up back when I joined a few years ago.... thanks for the replies tommie |

Re: 2wd burbs in texas
I've never seen a Suburban here that was older than 1973 till I found the Beast at the junkyard. Only paid $200 for it but it wasn't driveable and was missing some parts like a radiator, fan, steering column, etc but it did have a running 454 and the drivetrain was complete and original and it had a really solid body. I see a couple 67-72 pickups that get drug into the yards every once in awhile but I've never seen any more 67-72 Suburbans. I'm a good distance from Houston but if I run across any I'll let you know.

Re: 2wd burbs in texas
cool,
thanks there was one that just ended on evil bay. it did not hit reserve. the guy still has not told me what he wants or would take for it, it is in ft worth. alot of the 67-72 are hard to find in the junk yards down here, most just go to the crusher, the junk yards want to keep the newer stuff in there. I only know of one junk yard near me that has any 67-72's. |

Have you tried Craig's List? There always seems to be something there. I found my latest burb via the little nickel paper. I think most places have these free small papers under various names. The ad for the burb was buried in the middle of someones big ad selling a bunch of stuff.

Re: 2wd burbs in texas
they are not impossible to find around here, just have to be patient for one to show up for sale(paper, ebay, craigs list, truck trader) I do see them from time to time pop up locally. I got mine of ebay from way far away, but have met people tht go them locaty and inthe dallas area as well. Another place you could check in Outback Truck Parts inthe Spring/Tomball area. they always haev stuff for sale and or a meesage/picture board in their show room with stuff people are trying to sell.

Re: 2wd burbs in texas
I have been to outback a few times, I bought alot of parts for my previous project there. I may have to stop by there sometime.
I just wanted you guys to keep it in the back of your mind that you know someone who might be interested in a burb, incase you run across one, and you can't bring anymore projects home..... |

Re: 2wd burbs in texas
tommie,
I have a couple of burbs from my Dad's estate, they are not unrestored though. One is a 3/4 ton, blue and white, new paint, new seat covers, new wheels and tires, but not fully assembled. The other is a 1/2 ton, purple, fully restored, lowered appx. 4/6, static front, bagged rear, a/c, p/s,pb, basically loaded. Pm me if you might be interested. Greg

I know of two of them sitting around here at the local junk yards. I have never looked close at them or asked about them. I am here in San Angelo, and can check them out for you if your interested.

Re: 2wd burbs in texas
I saw an add from San Diego, California of a guy that was selling a 1964 suburban that looked really nice. It was 2wd and had a 292 with a 4 speed grannie low gear trans. It was currently registered and drivable. I was interested in it but don't have the $$$. If I can find the info I will get it to ya.

Re: 2wd burbs in texas
To bad your not closer, I know of about 20 different Burbans, 2 and 4by within 75 miles of here all 67-72. Most unrestored sitting in fields.

Re: 2wd burbs in texas
I bought mine from Taft, CA. it was in the local paper, how I found it was a website that carries almost all the syndicated paper's classifed ads. (in USA)www.oodle.com
