Trailer hitch question

I'm looking to put a trailer hitch on my burb but can only find a class 3 rated to 6000lbs. Does anyone make one with a higher rating for our burbs? Will a hitch for a 73-91 burb' work or is the frame width different? Thanks.

Re: Trailer hitch question

I believe that's the tongue weight rating (not trailer weight), and that's gonna be a load of tongue weight on a bumper hitch...

Re: Trailer hitch question

I wish, the tongue weight rating is 800lbs. The 6000lbs. is the tow rating.

Re: Trailer hitch question

I found one at Early Classics (this is a hidden hitch) rated 500lbs tongue and 5000lbs. pull. I need a class 5. I will have to have one made from scratch and they will have to rate it. I don't want any loopholes for the insurance company.

Re: Trailer hitch question

I have a hitch from a 78 Blazer on my 72 Sub. I had to drill one more hole in each frame rail to bolt it up. The reciever sits a little lower than I'd like but it works great.

Re: Trailer hitch question

Drilling holes won't bother me. As long as the width is the same. Lower won't bother me either, given my current ride height.
