'62 Frame question
I have a 62 Chevy Short bed stepside. I love the truck and have big plans for it. (more plans every time I come back to this board!) The problem is, almost all aftermarket I find is for 63 and up. I realize that there is a difference in chassis. The front suspension issue can be overcome relatively easily with a donor front x-member, but what about the giant X through the rest of the frame. It seems to interfere with all rear suspension options. WHAT CAN I DO!!!. Will my 62 body drop onto a 63+ frame? Can the X be cut out and replaced with other crossmembers more in line with a later frame. Anyone face/solve this problem before? All ideas GREATLY appreciated.

Re: '62 Frame question
im not exactly sure but i have a 62 lwb fleet completely stripped down to frame in my shop. i also have a 66 lwb fleet sitting in my driveway. i think the 63+ frames are different but im not sure. it couldent be that hard to get it on a newer frame though but unless you just have to do that id look for parts and see if anybody else on here chimes in that can be of more help than me. i know ive seen alot of 60-63 suspension parts in lmc. if you havent already checked there then its a good place to start. good luck and keep us informed.
