Small 5 on the front

Ok guys I am going to be running the C4 rearend. I am wanting to run the 5x4.75 bolt pattern on the front as well. However, I already have drop spindles and disc that are six lugs. Is the a rotor that fits on the hub that is a 5 lug pattern. I guess I will redrill the the bolt pattern. Are there any other options, besides outragous custom jobs.

Re: Small 5 on the front

Just get stock 5x5 pattern rotors from any parts house & have them re-drilled to the 5x4.75 car pattern. This is how my 74 is done.

Building a small, high rpm engine with the perfect bore, stroke and rod ratio is very impressive.

Re: Small 5 on the front

Actually, I'm having the same problem in the rear.

I'm running the C4 front and want the rear to match, but I have a 5x5 rear so I'm probably just gonna drill the hubs for the smaller pattern. I've already got the wheels so I'm gonna have to do something.

I'm hoping jkaylor is gonna come thru with his kit before I have to have one and I'll go that way.

Re: Small 5 on the front

I believe 71 was the first year for disc brakes. What i did for mine was ordered a new set of rotors from CPP (I think it was them) then took them down to a local maching shop and had them redrill them. When they redrill them there is some pieces of metal that have to be lathed down so they have room to redrill them. It has been so long since i have had mine done. I do remember it being a little expensive though. I would have to dig up my reciepts to find the exact price. On the other hand you get what you pay for most of the time. Good luck

Re: Small 5 on the front

kore3 has c5 conversion kits check that out, Ive also heard of people running an s10 spindle because there 5x4 3/4 check into that. Just take a unibit to the hole until it fits the ball joint.

Re: Small 5 on the front

well i dont remember if the 6 lug spindle is smaller than the 5 lug but i do know this the g 10 vans had 5 on 4 3/4 pattern i went to the parts house and compared them to the 72 5 on5 and they are smaller and have smaller bearings. i just wonder if some one makes g 10 drop spindles that would bolt in to are arms with the smaller rotors and pattern. as far as the rear some one else asked about i just called moser ordered replacement axles and had them drilled for the smaller pattern there don't forget to have them turn down the center to fit the car drums on though. you can get the drums at napa dont remember the first 3 # but the important part of the pt# is the last 4#s and they are 1060 they are for late 60s cars with 11x2 drums

are you freaking serious? Thats the most backwoods excuse for "making something work" I've heard lately. Let's think about this for a second. What does the spindle hold on? oh yeah thats right the FRONT WHEELS. So you're going to take a tapered 1:1 fit, and drill it with a stepped taper, that's probably not the right taper? How much contact will it have with the ball joint then? hardly any! get serious!

Now to answer the original question. Any confident mom &pop machine shop can drill you a bolt pattern in an afternoons work. don't be afraid to get in the phone book if you don't know anybody in the trade.
