operating temp on 230 6 cyc?
ran the truck today first long trip about 45 miles , she got up to 190 degress, figure thats too high, whats a temp range, any ideas on how too make it run cooler?

How old is the radiator? might be time for a new one. 190 don't sound too bad to me. average running temp for a late model vehicle IIRC is 180

straight six's are some of the toughest motors out there, ford gm or chrysler. just as long as your temp doesn't get above 200-210 you should do good. my 350 if i just let her sit and run she runs to 200 then the fan kicks on. driving she usually runs at about 180-190. but 190 is perfectly fine for a motor. actually i think that's what the factory thermostats are. i wouldn't be too concerned until your motor hits about 205/210+ in temp.
