turndowns or no turndowns
i think i read here that my dusl flowmater 40 series would sound better with no turndowns, so i but them off today. now its manifild to H pipe, then two 40 series and then nothing. i think ts louder, but not as deep, but has ok. my friends think it ounds like crap now.

I think they sound good with turndowns, but i didnt like all the dust they stir up under the truck.....I poked mine out the sides just ahead of the tires

I have 2 sets of exhaust for my 69. One is 2" pipe through bottles exiting before the wheels. The other is 2.5" pipe through Super Turbos tipped down about 4 feet from the headers. I think the first set is all around better. It snaps pretty good, is fairly loud, and has a decent sound. The second set has a pretty mellow tone with a lot more cab noise. Being that this is dealing with 2 different pipe diameters and mufflers, this probably isn't a great example.
A better comparison is my 80 chev. I had 2" pipes with magnum glasspacks tipped down before the axle. When I compare it to other trucks with the same thing out the side or back, they are louder and snap more, but the tone isn't so great. Mine isn't as loud but I think the rumble sound is better than others out the back or side. But again, the cab noise annoys me sometimes.

According to the poll your an idiot.:p lol. When I first put the smallblock in my panel I had headers and 2ft of pipe then 36in glasspacks and nothing after that, it sounded terrible plus it was way too loud inside now i have 40 series flomasters exiting in front of the tires. Allot of my friends have turndowns I would if I had a truck.

I wouldn't turn them down but I would bend pipe to make the pipes poke out the sides

My turndowns exit right after the flowmasters, spewing a wonderful rumble that reverbs off the pavement then off the bottom of the bed. Deliciously obnoxoius!
