what goes there such as an aftermarket part or an original part

it really is bad when you smell the exaust smoke and feel heat.

clutch rod- or clutch rod blockoff plate, as the case may be.

You should block that off to keep the heat out of the cab.If you are getting smoke/fumes,you should fix the exhaust leak and/or the oil leak.

that is on the lower drivers side firewall, towards the engine... down low.
As mentioned aboce, on manual tranny trucks, it had the clutch rod going through it. Automatic truck came with a plate to cover it, and I've recently been told the 67 - 69 actually had a plastic plug... which would explain why you NEVER see anything there on those year trucks... later ones had a metal cover.

You watch the for sale part of the board and wait for one to come up and try to jump on it...or per board rules you become a subscriber ( a measly 25 bucks a year ) and you can post a WTB ad looking for one. You actually get a lot more for being a subscriber. One of the mods can give you more info.

that line going through there goes to your mechanical aftermarket temp guage... it should go up to the head, or intake manifold.
The line isn't stock.

I have purchased a few aftermarket ones on eBay (and have seen them at the local aftermarket guys place). It is a thin sheet of metal, cut in a cirlce, with a little lip on opposite sides to put two screws through.

For a quick fix my mechanic put a tennis ball in one of my trucks.

if you're never gonna use it for it's intended purpose, the best fix would be to weld in a patch.

Some of us are lazy though, and I personally like the smell of gasoline so Im keeping all my rust holes intact. Sure I get light headed but I like that feeling too.
