Straight 6 dress-up - pics

This is going in the truck until I get all I need to install the 5.3/4L60E I pick up tomorrow!

I know blue is the factory color, but I like orange.

Started with this:

After some wire brushing: Like my engine stand?

And about $20 in rattle can paint:

Hope to get it all back together tomorrow - and get it in the truck.

TH350 - which will probably end up in my '62 C II wagon, once the 5.3 and 4L60E is installed in the truck.

BTW - I've got another 6 and powerglide sitting in the garage - that came out of my wagon - if anyone is interested.

Re: Straight 6 dress-up - pics

Looks like a TH350C.. it has the plug on the side for a lock up converter.

Good eye - I didn't even know there was a lockup TH350.. lol

This engine/tranny came out of the truck(not from the factory of course), and I don't see where anything was plugged into that connector - yet. I doubt there ever was though. I don't know much about any other GM trannys - except for 4L60E's, and that's just enough to be dangerous..

I was told everything was running fine when it was pulled - for a small block that never went in it.

Will it work properly without anything telling the TC to lockup? Doesn't look like the kickdown was ever 'hooked' up either... I'm starting to wonder if I should just hook up the PG I have and go down the road?

as a long time chevy 2 guy the pan and oil pump pickup even on the inline 6's are chevy 2 only. found out the hard way many years ago, 3 weeks after i junked the blown up stock 6 out of my 66' wagon and had to find and them pay for another one. don't let the motor go or at least strip all of the parts first. even the main bolt on number 3? main is different as it supports the oil pickup tube.

Re: Straight 6 dress-up - pics

Got it between the rails tonight.

The mounts and bracket don't look so different in person, but under the camera flash, the different paint I used looks much flatter...

Hope to get it running in the next week or so!
