Turn Signal Switch
I am swapping out the turn signal switch in my tilt column and I need to know how to do it. It doesn't look like it goes in without taking the column apart.

Re: Turn Signal Switch
If you are talking about the plastic plate the stalk screws into, it's really easy. Took me five minutes after studying it for a minute. I think there were three screws and a clip.

Re: Turn Signal Switch
So is it pretty much put in in there and wiggle it around to get it to lock in place or is it more involved? I can just see me breaking the hazard switch now

Re: Turn Signal Switch
Not really. It is a bit fussy to get in, but I didn't break mine and I am the world's best 'breaker' when it comes to stuff like this.

Re: Turn Signal Switch
How did you do it? Did you have to turn it or twist it? How far does it sit in?

Re: Turn Signal Switch
When I took out the original one it was removed the screws and pretty much pry it out. I can get the new one in but it wont go in as far as the original one did. Cant figure out what I am doing wrong.

Re: Turn Signal Switch
the wires always try to bunch up behind the switch... you may have to pull them from the outside of the collumn while putting the switch in...

Re: Turn Signal Switch
Yep...the right side was a tricky one at first, then I put a little force behind the pressing and it slipped in with a click.

Re: Turn Signal Switch
So did you angle in the hazard knob first then move the left side in while pulling the wire harness?

Re: Turn Signal Switch
Actually I installed it the other way around....left side in first, then the right.

Re: Turn Signal Switch
When I tried to install it I angled it to the right trying not to knock off the hazard switch (which didn't work). So after I broke the hazard switch I tried installing it as is for practice and this sucker will not go in. I checked the old one vs the new one and they are identical in size. I am thinking it has to be the wiring harness somehow but I cant where it is hanging up at. I will keep at it and one way or another I will figure this out.
