Re: Cowl hoods- lets see 'em!
Nice work on that custom cowl... How hard is fabbing something like that? What type of sheet bender do you have, ect?
I would love to make my own sometime in the future

Re: Cowl hoods- lets see 'em!
1bad chevy,
Yes I made mine. I still need to do alittle dolly work on it and get it primed. I just didn't like the 2" cowls everyone was selling. chevy71blu, There was no bender involved! A cut off wheel, welder, some 16 gauge sheet metal and some well placed cuts in the body line. Frank

Re: Cowl hoods- lets see 'em!
I have about 4 hours into mine at this point and probably another four to have it ready for paint. So a full 8 hours is a realistic time frame.
You also have to factor in,,,I enjoy spending the time building it instead of buying it. In some cases buying would be worth it instead of fabbing though. It all comes down to what you want to do and can afford. Frank

Re: Cowl hoods- lets see 'em!
It's great doing something yourself and people asking you about it! But for the most part you would have to price it so high it wouldn't be worth buying since you hand build them. Not knocking your hood because it looks great just saying most would be scared of the asking price if they had to pay for all the labor you put into just one hood.
I run into this all the time with the Golfcarts I build people love them but when they here a price it's a differant story!

71 Dragtruck Let Us Know How Much The Hood Weighs When Yours Come In. Us Body Source Has Their Lift Off 4" Hoods On Sale Now, I Was Thinking Of Going That Way Or The Harwood Depending On Weight. The East Coast Customs Hood Looks Good Also, Any Idea How Much It Weighed.

i spent a day on the fabrication and i already had the hood and spent probably $20 on material alot cheaper than $500 for a new one
