Oh I forgot I found a completely rust free door last week. The guy thinks he is going to give it to my body man.

Re: What did you get done? 11/18

I went Friday to pickup my 42lb injectors that USPS wouldn't leave at my house. Pulled all the bolts off the Y-pipe on the Jimmy, but the shady job the guy did building it about 3 years ago is going to force me to cut it into.

Anyone have any feedback on the 88-92 C1500 pickup headers with y-pipes? If I can't find a good one, I will have to build another one, this time I will have the turbo with me when it gets built...

Re: What did you get done? 11/18

I took a little road trip out west.

Let's see..... drank a few Dew's, listened to a few CD's, & changed a trailer tire in the dark @ a rest-stop. Then we drove a 'little' more.... took the 'scenic' route through Tucson, hung out on the outskirts of some sort of indian reservation & made some new friends while..... changing another tire on opposite side of the trailer. I waited 2hrs w/my new friends in a dust-storm for my road-weary buddy (n2billet) to make his way back so we could install the 2-new tires & drive some more!

We enjoyed Nathan Porter's fine Arizona hospitality (thanks for the pizza & drinks brother!) & 'assisted' ( ) Nathans 'go-to' guy 'Chris' w/the late-night installation of a C4 rear-end.

We did the GoodGuys-Scottsdale show & won an award for each one of the two vehicles we brought along (55-Chevy & a 64-Rambler). We got to check out the infamous 'Pavillions' on Sat night. It was one of the best 'weekly' local-shows I've ever attended. Very organized & there must have been over 600 vehicles (new & old) in attendance (our local DFW scene could learn alot from these guys).

We picked-up a few Dropmembers..... 'dropped' a complete 6.0 LS motor off (& quickly picked it up again..... Nathan will provide the insider details), & then headed off into the sunset for the 1100-mile journey home.

Special thanks again to Porter & his group (His Dad, Chris, Dino & clan) for making the trip worth the 2K+ miles for us 'navigationally-challenged' TX guys.

Awww, Ken...not giving you grief, just trying to keep you busy. I have the same anal tendencies too, so don't feel bad.

This weekend was a busy one for me. Saturday, did final assembly on Yeller, then my wife, daughter and I went to my best friends house to hang out with him and his wife (they are also ther Godparents)...that was fun.

Sunday, got the Burb all buttoned up (head gasket change), and finished all the fall yard work.

Tonight...got Yeller home!!! Will get better pics in the daylight, this will have to do for now.

Re: What did you get done? 11/18

Well I dident do anything truck related. Ive been slacking on the checking the oil, let my lady drive my firebird I hop'd in friday night and heard the death rattle. It was only 4 quarts low on oil, lol. went over my friends house saturday and the engine sounded really fubard! Drove it home @6k for 8 miles and ended up tossing 5 rods out the the oil pan and breaking the timing chain. Kinda cool how the chain will break out on a vortec engine. Oh well kinda funny how this was the first engine Ive ever blown. I'm going to freshen up the 383 and slide her in the bird I was never too happy with the little 5.0 but it did get insane fuel economy and had enough power to spank 4.6's.

Re: What did you get done? 11/18

I'm gonna call it a 3 day weekend -- because i slipped a new ipod compatible cd player in my '88 K5 in anticipation of a long thanksgiving drive -- (yes......... i know its almost as cheap to fly and takes less hours)

I cant believe how cool this thing is (its a $150 Alpine deck i got at best by -- no big deal -- but i have been asleep at the wheel when it comes to technology)

Drove out to Arkansas on Saturday and picked up some parts from Poolboy. Got them put on yesterday. Think my frame is bent still on the right side cause the bumper sits in way too far...going to check it better today, was late when i got the grille and core support done yesterday.

Nope, sure didn't...How did the bumper fit on yours? Was it in quite a bit on the passenger side? Trying to figure out if my frame is bent or if it's just the bumper and mounting brackets. The frame doesn't look bent...

Re: What did you get done? 11/18

I think it fit better then that. Looks like you right frame rail is bent up a little. You can take that inner bumper braket out on that side and just use the outer and line it up better. Put the bolts back in to cover the holes. That should work till you get a new bumper. Here's a picture with it on my truck.

Re: What did you get done? 11/18

Think I'm just going to order a new bumper and brackets. The bumper is only 115.00 and then a little bit more for the hardware. My old bumper didn't sit that high and was bent real bad on the right...but the frame may still be bent a bit. I had it straightened from side to side because it was bowed in real bad and couldn't get the camber out. Thanks again though!

Robert, that bumper looks twisted to me. I don't think that your frame is still bent. If you look at the picture of the truck that it came off of, the bumper looked like it was twisted while it was on that truck too, because I can see the valence panel showing on the driver side. The bumper looks like it's got a dent right by the upper bolt on the passenger side from what I can tell. It's very likely that the passenger side brackets are bent. You might be able to make that bumper work with some good, straight, brackets.... and a little persuasion! If you need some help with it, give me a call. I'll be home for the next 4 days. ...Joe

Re: What did you get done? 11/18

Might have to do it another time...going out of town tomorrow and we are moving the shop the rest of the weekend...will give you a call sometime later and see if we can do something...might need to just get the brackets for now...can't complain about it though, it was free! And everything else fit really good.

Re: What did you get done? 11/18

Boy, I am really late on this one. Well this one starts last week, just before the weekend.

I got a new cluster from the yard with all gauges, but decided I will just mount extra gauges for now, and use the "new" cluster for a new gauge buildup. Also picked up a new dash bezel since the old one was hacked up.

I got the radio relocated, cause I don't like the factory spot, fabbed up a plate to cover the old radio hole and mounted 3 gauges in the same place.

I still have to mount the plate in place, and fix a bit of trim from the radio relocating.

Then Saturday I had to change belts on my truck as my power steering belt was loose, only to discover that I couldn't adjust it anymore, so I replaced both belts.
